In the year 1995 Jón Þór Birgisson, Jónsi of Sigur Rós, was the frontman with sunglasses Jonny B of the band the Bee Spiders. This band got the same year an award (Efnilegasta hljómsveitin) for most interesting band @ a contest for unknown bands Musiktilraunir (Music Experimentations). The band was compared with Smashing Pumpkins because of the long songs they played.
Also Kjartan was an occasional member of the band, serving as female background singer (Tina Turner lookalike).
Before the Bee Spiders, Jónsi already fronted a grunge rock band called Stoned around 1992-93.
